And Now...

for the special invitation that I teased about yesterday.....

My bud, Teresa, over at Art & Light is hosting a trunk show for artist Ashley Buchanan this Saturday, November 20 from 11AM until 5pm. Aren't her pieces GORGEOUS?! I love how she mixes metal, a typically "tough" and "industrial" material with pretty, feminine shapes. Please stop by (tell Teresa I sent you!) and check out her hand-cut metal earrings, cuffs and necklaces. These would make a great Christmas gift for someone or a little gift "to me from me" as I like to say:) At $25-$85, there's something for everyone! There's just something about wearing a unique piece of jewelry made by a local artist, sold at a local gallery that makes me smile! You can view her Artist Statement below.

"Faux Real is a series I am currently working on that investigates our perception of value, specifically in jewelry. The use of imagery is important to my work in order to establish a familiar identity between the viewer and the object. I am interested in a reality that exists through images and representations and how the appearance of an object can substitute for the original. In Society of the Spectacle, Guy Debord writes about the effects of a production obsessed society and a resulting transformation of reality into the image of reality. By combining less expensive materials with iconic shapes of jewelry, I create new simplified pieces that continue the tradition of hand crafted jewelry and metals with a clean contemporary aesthetic."

Art & Light is located in the Pendleton Arts District at 1211 Pendleton Street. It's in the super cool Flat Iron building. For directions please click here. Hope to see you there!
